IFTON HEATH PRIMARY SCHOOL
FORTNIGHTLY NEWSLETTER
FRIDAY 20 JANUARY 2012
Are there any grandparents out there who have a little time on their hands and who might be willing to help hear children read? We are always on the look out for interested people who can spare us a regular hour or two each week. Please don’t be shy, come and talk to us!
Thank you to everyone who has tolerated our lack of heating this week in some parts of the school. The classrooms were warm but the corridors, offices, hall and staffroom have been pretty chilly! Thankfully, the problem has now been fixed.
Bags2School –Collection day is Thursday 26 January at 9.00am. We raised over £100 last year so please bag up your unwanted clothes, curtains, blankets etc and bring them to school next week; either give them in at the School Office or leave them under the Outside Canopy by the KS2 door. Thank you. (PS: if you have lost your blue bag just use a black bin bag).
Photographs– on Thursday 26 January the school photographer is in school. If you haven’t returned your request slip your child/children will automatically have their photograph taken either on their own or as a family. If you wish your family photograph to include a baby or under 3 year old, please come directly to the hall on Thursday morning from 8.30am. All other children will be taken in classes throughout the morning.
Music Lessons– this week we welcome Mr and Mrs Faux-Nightingale who will be taking some of the children for guitar and keyboard lessons. If any children are interested in starting lessons please ask at the school office.
Boat Trip –On Tuesday the Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed a marvellous (if not chilly!) trip to theBoatMuseumatEllesmerePort. Here is what a couple of children wrote in their literacy books about the day:-
“We had a lovely time on our visit toEllesmere PortBoats where we found out all about life on the canals. When we arrived we had to be told three rules – no running, always stay with an adult and don’t go near the water. We had a ride on the canal and in the old days horses used to pull canal boats. We went to the stable and the blacksmith and we saw horse shoes and we decorated a boat.” Harvey Jones age 6
“….we skipped off the coach and we got in our groups by the ice cream place. After lunch we made lace and a rag rug when we went to the cottage. We went to the play-area and the shop and finally the coach arrived.”
