Dear Parents

 It is with great regret and disappointment that I have to inform you that, after considering it for six long months, the Department for Education has rejected our application for Academy status.

 I received a phone call late yesterday from our DfE contact but have no further information about the reasons for this decision until a formal letter arrives in the next few days. I did, however, want you to hear this news immediately so it would come from me rather than from any other outside source.

 I understand that there is no appeals procedure in place; however, the Governing Body will meet as soon as we know the details to discuss what actions are open to us and we will, as always, keep you fully and immediately informed.

 Do please let our parent governors know your thoughts.
